Of all the games in this series - what one is your favorite, and why?

I vote for TXR2 for Dreamcast. I like the high definition graphics (awesome with VGA box) and the sensitive tuning options. You really feel the difference on the road handling when you change the suspension settings, break balance, etc.

TXRD2 is my favorite by far. I can't get enough of the touge drifting - especially with VIP-style cars.

TXR3 here.

Engine swaps rock. (Cars only being worth 500 bucks after 2400? miles, not so much)

TXRD2 comes second, just barely, followed by TXRD. Haven't played any of the others, sadly.

TXRD2 and TXR3 in equal measure.

TXR0 because it had alot of cars
TXR3 Because it had Osaka and Nagoya
TXRD2 because overall it beat TXRD and had a lot more cars

TXR3 is a great game, it's keeping me very entertained in this lonely summer. I'll have to pick up TXR0 as well, an older version of more of the same seems good.

Seeing as how I've played all the TXR games released on the PS2, my order would be...

-TXR3
-TXRD2
-TXR0
-TXRD

That's not to say that TXRD isn't good, not at all, it just hasn't aged as well as you would think.

I'd have to say txrd2. It definitely fills a void in the racing genre.

I really can't say, but I've always loved the High Way racing. But in order.

TXR0
TXR3
TXRD2
TXRD

I love the car selction in Zero, plus the Power Output is more realistic and the fact that I can make a Devil Z.

I didn't really care much for the first Drift game, 2 is good but nothing feels right in my opinion.

I say TXR2 no other game has felt as fulfilling to play as this one and it is to me the most true to what the Tokyo highway racing scene was about.

TXR3 didn't do it for me it was more arcade-ish than the 1st and 2nd version. I haven't played the kaido battle series though since I never owned a ps2 :(. Import tuner challenge was a letdown it was the same as part 3 more arcade-ish and prettier graphics and more customization (Note "more" not "better")

TXR0. That was the one that started everything for me. It got me into imports and street racing. I was so fascinated by it that I started learning about the culture of it and Japan itself. That eventually got me into anime, and it also then made me get a Dreamcast to play 2 and the original. Eventually I ended up with 1, 2, Zero, 3, Drift, Drift 2 (but got rid of that one), Street Supremacy, TXRA (lol), ITC, and I have Tokyo Highway Battle for PSX and have/had the original Shutokoubattle games for the SNES on emulators. That was back in 2001, and I still play that game today.

tl;dr - TXR0 made me spend a lot of money and turned me otaku.

i liked txr0 mostly because the music that got you into it. the rest kinda turned to rockish. and txrd0 was the hardest one.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer on DC for me which was the first TXR game I played - gameplay was extremely addictive, music is great, fast, one of a kind.

Nice to see someone here who still appreciates this classic and the one that started it all.

I like TXR0 out of the ones I've played. I actually like it much more than TXR2 because it felt like I didn't have to work as hard. I remember starting TXR2 back in 2001 and played it on and off for a few years without ever finishing it. With TXR0 I already beat it 3 times and it took about 1 week each time.

I just wish they would've included the original music tracks in addition to the remixes, because some of them sound really awful.

I like Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 the best, for a number of reasons.

- I like its music the best out of all the TXR games. The rock music in Tokyo is quite good. Plus, I like how they inserted epic opera music throughout the game. It gives the game a weird sort of charm, and sets it apart from the more traditional music you’d get in other street racing games (and even many of Genki’s own games).
- The car selection is superb too. Most TXR games are quite heavy on Japanese cars, but this one has a decent number of foreign cars too. I really like Chevy Corvettes, Lotuses, and Porsches, and this one has all of them (well, sort of…Gemballa).
- You can also visually modify the aero on many of the vehicles… I just wish it could be done to all of them instead of only a small selection. But a custom painting shop helps make up for that.

But a special mention has to be given to TXRD2 as well.

- Touge games are quite rare in America, and TXRD2 fills this niche extremely well.
- I also think it’s fun how a lot of the tracks encourage a slower pace. This means, a lot of slower cars that normally don’t get a chance to shine can be realistically used to beat the game. It’s awesome not having to use big, powerful cars all the time to finish the game.

I just wish the music were better…and that they got different sound effects for when you’re clicking through menus. They drive me nuts…

*click….click click click…BOING! Click click click…click, BOING! BOING! BOING!*

Gaaaah! I can’t stand it anymore!

Yeah, that is the biggest drawback to TXRD2. It's enough to make you reserve a place in a nuthouse... :?

TXRD2, aka Kaido Racer 2 - I just love racing around mountains :) and with TXRD2 I did get into drifting as well ^^
ITC was nice, but not enough variety. I still have the game, but without X360 I can't play it :(
The Xtreme Racer Series was never released in Europe but I should get the Street Supremacy (PSP) part any day. I bought it off an online auction.
:)

TXRD and TXR3 are the only ones that weren't released for European territories so you can still check out the other txr games ;)

For me, it has to be D2. No other game out there is as in-depth with the touge scene. So many courses, so many cars, so many ways to jazz them up. Unlike Initial D, where all you can do is pick from preset styles and mods.

I've always been an avid fan of drifting and touge, and love the crazy battles on youtube with japanese kids sliding their cars centimeters from the rails. That, and Gymkhana! You learn so much about control just by charging at a cone, whipping around it and going back the way you came. The first time you get it right, you can't help but squeal in excitement. It's an awesome game, to say the least. I gave up GT4 for this!!
