I can't grip for more than 1 second around a corner, I must drift to get around it.
Whenever I grip, it's always understeers and hit the wall.

HARD.
I can only go straight when if gripping, otherwise it's full-tilt slide for drifting (even on the straights.

you serious? driving in a strait line is hard for you? like really :?
and your setup isnt even wobbly, if anything with my set should be hard in a strait line, but its not.

if its hard for your car to stay straight then u have too much horsepower. u need to drop your rom back.

It's mainly only on 2 to 3 out of the cars I drift with (the most notable is the RX-8 turbo setup I use).
Otherwise, it's easy.
I only made that remark because I was thinking of the RX-8.

It'd would be the reverse if it's too much.
Drop the parts level.
The ROM, if lowered, gives more torque, which is part of the problem.

if you have a steering wheel, grip is easier because you have more throttle control and steering sensitivity .
drifting is easier at first on a controller because you can counter at a faster rate.

this game feels like it was disigned around a 900deg steering wheel. however, the sheer learning curve with a steering wheel is insane...Ive played almost 220 hours with a wheel and still find room for improvment.

This is correct, to a point. The only way this isn't true is if the car isn't torquey enough to spin the tires at low RPM's. But yeah, dropping the ROM to lower RPM's will make even high-gear running (using higher gears to keep your car running in low range) difficult. Moving the ROM to the high-end will definitely make the car less responsive in the lower RPM's - making the car more traction friendly. Good catch TDK!

This is the main problem with the RX-8. (And to some extent with the S2000)
The low torque is boosted beyond the car's limits if you lowered it too much.
I have the RX-8 setup that has that problem, but I need a couple of days to figure out a remedy.
I do have some problems with drifting some cars, and I will post a list soon on the Tuning Garage forum..

u can't suck more than me at overtaking real racers. i had trouble over taking some girl at go karting, who was really slow, because i kept tail gating and trying to wait for her to make mistakes(which she does after awhile), but i should of just went wide like most ppl.

I do the same in this game. but it's pretty hard because of how narrow the roads tend to be in this game.

I just slam the rival out of the way (in-game OR real life) if they don't get out of the way within 5 seconds of the race starting.
That's just how competitive I am.

theres my enthusia strategy, always take the inside lane in the beginning. since comp always goes outside to turn in, and are completely unaware of where you are, and start slow.

doesnt work so well in this game or real life

That works most of the time in go-kart racing: Go to the inside.
You either make it, hit the inside wall or crash the other driver.

for me, cornering (and drifting), maybe I just suck in this game, but I got hard time beating race after changing to maxed Z33 (or it's z34? I forgot, it's the newer z model)

No z34 in this game bro.

But yeah, the 33 is a bastard for gripping, so much V6 torque, great for drifting and even better for spinning.

well there both hard,
Grip - going fast in the turns & losing grip
Drift - gaining the speed back up
