I got Guardian on a New Game +.
I've raced and beaten Kaido President 5 times so that isn't right.

I had tried to get Kaido President as a friend on this copy of the game to no avail thus far. From what I can remember I was using an EVO VIII MR to race him - yet the EVO VIII MR that I'm using now has yet to snag him, even under different weather conditions. Maybe I was using the AWD Starion....

Alright, I've went back through my memory cars looking at the cars that are on the card that has Kaido President as a friend. I am relatively sure I beat him once with an EVO VIII MR, and then the Impreza STi (latest model) - so I will try to beat the Prez on my other game using the STi and see what results I get.

I can't help do stuff like this for a while, my PS2 died completely last night. I'm lucky I have a GameCube though, that will just have to keep me occupied. My birthday is coming up soon, so I may get lucky.

Befriended Dejected Angel, seemed pretty random.. I used an S15 though. I don't know if that helps.. Tried many times till I got to befriend her. I'll try again with the other Devils.

Is there a guide on how to make friends in this game? I like some of the rival cars.

This thread is about the only "guide" out there. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for some of the rivals to become your friend. Some of these techniques are repeatable, some don't seem to be - might just be the luck of the draw.

I actually befriended Nightmare's Evo VIII today (finally beating through the last team)

Just used a GT-R R34 as last time. Ran a pretty clean run, didnt hit any walls, or him, or lose any sp...but i lost, so after driving his car around a bit, i restarted the system...

The evo is pretty fast. It handles very stable-ey (i can't find the right word) although when using the Ebrake, there's a lot of "whiplash" that is usually apparent in FFs and AWDs

I also befriended Nightmare, I blew past him at the first straight and he never caught up to me.
Can't remember if I hit any walls or not, I don't think I did though..
The most important factor is to never hit him.

Timber Slash:
Win 2 times in an fully tuned Evo 5.
I just repeated it again at my friend's house so I can prove it.
