TBH, i really "specialize" in beat games such as Stepmania/DDR/etc...

so what is stepmania? its a free downloadable game which is most simply put as "DDR on the Keyboard"

what's kewl is the fact that you can take your own MP3s and turn them into "Simfiles" as in make you own "steps" for songs (which is what i do)
You can then export your files, and upload em to a site for other people to enjoy! This also works in reverse; you can search and download songs that other people have uploaded! Also, there are a few packs of song out there that include very nice files of Anime music. My friend online has discovered his love for anime (or at lest magnified it) through stepmania

NOT to mention, there is another version (also free) which may require a login, but allows you to go against people online (all players need to have the same songs)

it really is a great "game" and i'm sure if you start, you'll be hooked on it for a while.

Here's an example of some Drift City music i put steps to

Oh and simfiles can range from falling-asleep easy, to rediculously hard.

i like watching ppl play ddr when they are good and start doing stuff, especially the girls, but i personally suck at it and never gave it too much effort. i never got passed most of the easy songs. i would say i like it a lot more than the newer music games like rockband, just my style

Hm, I play some ITG and PIU, but mostly I play Beatmania 2dx. Been playing bemani since 1999, up to 12s on single play and 8s or 9s on doubles on 2DX, 40s in popnmusic, 90+ in guitar freaks, 89 in drummania...As for dancing games I think I'm on 11s in ITG singles, 7s or 8s on doubles. 18s or so in PIU, singles and doubles.

I play a LOT of music games, along with racing games and 2d fighters it makes up most of what i play.

lol trance vibrator. Never gets old :p

I wouldn't really call Rez a music game though, more of a musical shooter.

I just downloaded stepmania and it's a lot of fun.

funny how i havent played ddr for years but my skills seemed to have improved a little. I still can't get past light mode in most stages, and stepmania can be unbalanced with original songs, but what do you expect from low budget, non profit products like that. must be because i did a little bit(really little) real dancing, and developed patience/timing from other types of games lately.

I may get something to plug a dance pad into the computer(supposedly no drivers needed), since i should still have a ps2 dance mat laying in dust somewhere, if it's not thrown out by mom due to non use.

:D thats great to hear you've been playin stepmania.

I've been playing osu, which is a free online rhythm game. Basically, you use the mouse to hit beats that appear on the screen. it's found on the Osu website and registration is required to play (you use your online forum login for the game itself). Its online so you can go against other people or friends.

i'll get it later since i dont feel like jumping thru hoops right now. it's been enough work trying to find stepmania songs and getting things to work in mugen(which i keep putting off since it's a hassle).

I just got the handheld game Rhythm Heaven (Rhythm Tengoku Gold in Japan)

I have to say, its an addicting game, especially for a handheld... If i were to describe it in a nutshell, it would be warioware: Band geek edition.

The game itself comes with 25-ish games (after clearing the first twenty five, you unlock the second version of each level...er like "heavy" mode on a song in DDR), all of which have decent music and fluid gameplay.

The game is quite short...i mean i didnt medal/perfect each game (you either get an "ok", a "superb (medal rank)" or a "perfect"), but i cleared all 50 levels in about two days.

Evey "stage" has five levels; four games and a "remix" which blends all the games into one longer game... idk how to explain it..

but the cool thing, is that there's some cool mini games. my friend and i have been addicted to Coin Toss... its kinda hard...

I have the US version, which has a few dubbed songs/commands. While some may sound a bit corny... the dubbing isnt too bad (well it could be worse). The games that i wanted to stay the same from the JP version (from what i saw on YouTube) stayed unchanged in the US version, so i was quite happy.

The games are simple and addictive, but in the same way, very frustrating...i guess it's like WarioWare in that sense. It's relatively easy to clear a level, but pretty hard to medal/perfect one without some basic music theory/experience in this sort of game.

I am very content with it right now, but i can't wait to get Scribblenauts later this week :P

Osu turned out to be a reasonable right forearm endurance workout during those spins. not much on left side though unless u use a left mouse.

btw, stay away from wii music unless u'r a classical fan.
