This series has had a cult following ever since Genki created the franchise many years ago. The game has several main draws and I personally find all of em addicting. However, I enjoy tuning the most and maxing out my car's performance to break my old time attack record. What's yours?

battling, if i HAD to choose. i enjoy it all pretty much, save for certain wanderers.

(windy fanfare you had to cheat, which i did way back when, funibashi hooligan was just annoying. had to enter all exits in tokyo)

I'm going to have to go with the battles and tuning. There's something about winning and tuning your car just right makes me smile.

I just simply love the cars available, the tuning, and the driving. As well as the tracks they have. Loads of fun!

I chose "Engaging in one on one battles", but what I also really love to do is just drive around aimlessly, sometimes stopping to read a sign.
I've been to Tokyo quite a few times, so it's fun to drive past all the different wards and seeing familiar landmarks everywhere like the Tokyo Tower in Roppongi, or NTT building in Yoyogi.

I like the fact that everything is so much more acurate. Not like NFS where EVERYTHING can easily surpass the 200 mph mark.

me too.....

i do love how on the Shutoko series, you can customize what seems like every little thing...like over-fenders and grilles, lights... its so much cleaner (as in less ricey) than in NFS

in terms of shoutoku. I'm new but so far it's uniqueness and music that builds atmosphere is really good. I like how I can make the car super ricy with all the external customizations and how theres some decent physics despite being a really arcady game.

Kaido: I like pretty much everything about TXRD2, I almost everything. But if i had to pick a few things, it's CA mode, and how close to a true hardcore sim the physics are despite it's arcady fun feel. and how it seems to make you good at almost all realistic racers.

After a few weeks of play, i have to say the length of gameplay you get from these what seems like budget racers (since they usually don't cost more than $30 here) are amazing. You get extreme customization, great game modes, a plethora of great JDM and euro cars, and hours of gameplay....

after doin some thinking, i realized you probably WON'T find this anywhere else for $10 or so.....

even with $50+...it's hard to find a decently-length game

there are no games with as much replay value as genki's racers. most ppl talk about rpgs being 70hrs long as long. once you finish it, it's done, you'll probably never play again.

hours spent on TXRD2? too many hours to count, and it seems like the ps4 would be out by the time i get sick of the game.

My favorite thing about these games are the customization that's available.

The physics are no where near realistic, but it's fun enough lol.

TXRD2 had the best drift physics I have ever experienced. And the games just suck you in. Definitely the best series ever.

It wasn't actually on the poll portion but my answer would probably be 'atmosphere' which is something from all of the specifics in the poll.

I just really like the balance Genki finds between realism, fun, speed, and the game world. Their driving games seem to find the essence of a car culture without making it too 'clownish', at least as compared to other franchises. I always liked, as another poster above stated, how you could roam about the highways and check out the details. The opponents were just 'out and about', and in the case of TXR0, you could get flashed and ticketed. The rivals have personality and their reappearance through the chapters just adds to the solidity of the game world. I mean who hasn't played more than one entry and said 'oh, this m**therf**ker! I remember you! I'm going to hand you your a** this time!', upon meeting a particularly troublesome rival from a previous chapter.

That kind of 'color' is really rare in any sort of genre apart from RPGs. Which is kind of what these games are without the forced narrative that series like Pro Race Driver get into.

I don't think the games necessarily have the best car models or the most realistic physics, but they've somehow struck the right balance for just FUN. I don't even find the wanderer requirements to be that annoying (apart from that chapter you had to play through more than once to get 'em-- was that TXR2?). The games just keep you going to see what comes next,

I like tuning the cars and the body types, and I love watching the replays and seeing my car's exhaust backfire

nothing beats the fact that everything in the game feels "alive". the rivals all had a personnality, you felt the addiction for speed, even the turns had their own life, in that you had to learn them right or else you ended up messing up.

maybe what I like the most is that all the cars kind of had a personnality too. I remember spending countless hours trying to figure out and understand my R32, after that it was really fun tuning it to drive just the right way.
