Working on building up this Prelude to reach its maximum capabilities as a TA car. Front-wheel drive cars aren't my strong point in tuning - and time attacks aren't my strong point in racing. Add on top of that that this car is NA, and I think anyone can appreciate a good setup for this car.

This thread will be kind of a running progress report of the car - it'll get updated whenever I accomplish a better time or better settings.

Currently I am testing the car on Akagi - one of the most twisty courses on this game. As of this minute, my best time (with 2 hits  ) is 3'42"774.

Quick update here, messed around with the toe of the car and the downforce of the spoiler. The car is definitely much better at handling but still has a bit more understeer than I like to have. After probably an hour or so of racing and tweaking, I shaved off about 7 seconds of time, and reduced it down to 1 hit on the course. I am really pushing to get a run with no hits but I seem to always goof at one time or another.

New best time, 3'35"741 with 1 hit (1"000 penalty).

Finally!

Beat my last time by just about a half second, and no hits. I really think this time will be hard for me to break with this car but I will keep at it.

3'35"125 with 0 hits.

I almost threw my controller tonight even though the mistake was all me. I managed to scrape the wall at the very last 20-30 feet before the finish line and lost 1"000 off my fastest time - 3'33"157.

Before this run I had my ROM at around 4400RPM and I moved it up to around 5000RPM - and the car accelerates just a bit smoother. On the top end there is only a gain of like 10PS but I guess every little bit of USABLE power helps (I played with turbocharging the car and the results were catastrophic).

So my new best TA is 3'34"157.

I'll definitely be shooting to break the 3'30"xxx barrier...

Up to about the 3'35"xxx range I was at about 294PS, but when I raised the torque curve up to around 5000RPM I got the car around 305-310PS.

I am really happy with my status on the boards so far, but I still want to push this car to the limits. Honestly, I have put more effort in tuning and testing this car than I have with all the cars I've built in the past. Trying to keep up and beat your ghost can be downright frustrating but it has really made me a better Time Attack'r.

If someone wants to know the best racing line on a course, all they have to do is continually race their best ghost. The faster you go - the quicker you'll be forced to find the quickest way around a course.

I've switched courses - now I'm back to Hakone for some less aggressive corners. The nice thing about Hakone is that I'm able to test the ability for my suspension to keep the tires connected to the pavement. There are quite a few places on Hakone where the road dips/rises right before the corner - making the slaloms a bit more challenging. My current best time is 2'09"491 with 0 hits.

I think I can hit the 7's as I did once already, but had like 2-4 hits.

I hope you can beat it, really I do.

Make sure you do it on Record Challenge mode so you can submit it to the official boards. There is like no FF cars on the TA boards.

I will try this course 5 cars maybe. I will post my times, I didn't know how about that TA thing, even though there is a code giving in the game. lol I would doubt it if I can get the Top 5. I am one of the best FR/MR/RR grip tuners here.

I had lost my original setup somehow so I rebuild the car based off the settings I provided on in the Tuning Section - plus did some further tuning. The understeer is much improved but I'm not sure if I've got the suspension all figured out. Of course, I'll still keep trying to get faster, but I do believe I am reaching the pinnacle of this cars performance - without dropping more weight.

3'28"407 with 0 hits, moved up a spot on the boards.

For now I've moved onto a different course - one that I've always hated, Hiroshima. Apparently I'm not the only one because there isn't many times posted for this - I've snagged 14th place for now. I really don't see myself moving much higher on the boards as the two taps I had only accounted for 1"500 in time... not enough to take over 13th.

3'41"375 with 2 hits (more like taps)
