I just discovered today by accident that the japanese version of TXR has the best car in the entire game! I always assumed the fastest cars would be either the s30, 911 or the R34 GT-R.

The two cars exclusive to the US version (TXR) can only be ported back to the Japanese version as the S2000 (AP1). However, take note that once fully upgraded, you reach a maximum and whopping 802 PS. That's the highest in the entire game.

Now I wonder what other hidden secrets lie in this game. I'm so tempted to drop Genki (Crave Entertainment is just useless these days) a line asking what other goodies can be unlocked.

Sure. Basically, when Crave ported Genki's Shutokou Battle game to the US market, they added two new cars--Mitsubishi Eclipses. Since these cars are not available in the Japanese edition, they cannot be ported back to Shutokou. Instead, they appear as the TYPE-AP1 when loaded from the VMU. However, this is no ordinary Honda S2000. Upon closer investigation, you'll notice it's got the highest HP/PS rating in the entire game.

Genki has replied to me in the past. Can't guarantee they will continue their excellent customer support/service but I can always hope so.

And it would be neat to hear from Genki - especially if they mentioned a new Shutokou/Kaido Battle game coming out for PS2/PS3/XBOX 360...

You bet. I'm currently working on filling, fully upgrading and tuning the cars in my the garage. My goal is to have around 25-30 and I'm nearing that. Can't wait to getting around Takumi's AE86 (it's a couple of cars down the line) and eventually this souped up S2000.

Regarding Genki, I just checked my past emails and they seemed really tight lipped about providing any information, most especially about walk-through. I was so glad they were kind enough to give me some secrets in Shutokou Battle 2 when I asked about getting additional camera angles. Problem is, I don't have (yet) the Japanese version. Ugh. I wish Crave included these secret codes in TXR2.

I wish there was more information about all the TXR games in general. For instance - I can't believe I was one of the first (that I know of) that realized the hidden wheels available in TXRD2.

I still haven't figured out if there are more vinyls to be had, or other hidden parts to be found in TXRD2. I just beat the game completely and am starting to consider playing it again in New Game + mode (I think that is on TXRD2 at least).

Yup, there's a lot of hidden stuff in their games. You're right about the information. It's so scarce in the western world. I'm sure though the Japanese have a different story to tell.

I have very little knowledge of Japanese characters (katakana) but it's enough to help me get by doing google searches. And getting directed to Japanese websites dedicated to Shutokou Battle 1, 2, 0 and 01. I was surprised too see some dedicated fans who build performance tables and such just like me, hehe.

About your findings, congrats! Maybe Crave can give you more info? It's still so much more rewarding when you find out stuff on your own.

Yeah, I wish I could read many of the Japanese sites, it would sure help out. Until I can the sites out, the search for answers will continue....

I found these three sites hosted by Genki but they are all in Japanese. Some of the pages can be translated, but as of yet, I haven't found any new information.

I just wanted to modify what I said previously about the S2000. It's not as good as I initially thought it was. It seems to have been a lemon. The car has great torque and acceleration (in a 0-60mph or quarter mile race, it's ace), but bites on taking the turns and corners. I've tried tuning it the best I can--still not responsive.
