I FINALLY DID IT.
I proved yesterday that Guardian becomes your friend if you beat him with an Evo 5 on a "New Game +", thanks to my new silver PS2 slim.

Alright, here's a new one:
I befriended Shadow Eyes with my Evo 6 today.
I proved it by duplicating it on another gamesave.

You know, I just topped what i said earlier.
I just befriended Last Leg (Omote Rokko Slasher) with a 22B STI in addition to what I posted eariler.
This brings my Slasher/Kingdom 12/13 Devils friend total to 5:
Guardian (Haruna Slasher)
Last Leg (Omote Rokko Slasher)
Shadow Eyes (Happogahra 13 Devils)
Timber Slash (Aso Kingdom 12)
Dominator (Hiroshima Slasher).
I will try to find more soon.

( if this does not work try losing to haunted shore with an evo 5 or r32. you might have to lose once or twice. ) this one was tested by me but i think it might be more complicated. we'll see ( this car is a beast to handle. so fast it spins out since its FR. if you can tune it then it can go about 200mph i think in a few seconds.) founded by: michaelxdrift

BTW it's the only rival in the game with the Opel Speedster.

I don't now if it'll work since I already beat them so I can only find one per night.
[Nightmare] Win by SP drain in an Skyilne GT-R (R34).
Also, try not to hit the walls at all or bump the rival.

You can also add "Nightmare" to the list. I befriended him again on another save game with a GT-R R34.
I didnt hit any walls nor did I hit him. I beat him by draining his SP.

Now if we could just find a way to befriend Haunted Shore, the Aso Mystery Team will be complete

I've gotten Tailgunner as a companion, if i remember correctly I used an NSX-R (NA1) and beat him my first try by outrunning him, I don't recall if I hit him or the walls, it MIGHT have been in the rain also. I hope that's helpful.

I tried to get Dominator and Guardian on my New Game + and they didn't work, I don't know exactly what I'm doing wrong, I race cleanly, I've raced to the finish against them or outran them in the cars that were mentioned to use... I must be missing something else.

BTW the Evo 5 is fully tuned, and it has to be the first time you race him.
It might be the 6, but I'm not totally sure.

Yes, I have an Evo 5 and 6 fully tuned, all Lvl 5 parts and so on, I got them both to try and get Shadow Eyes but didn't work. I shall try again with the Evo 6, must I try not to impact the walls? I usually do when I'm trying to outrun them.

Oh, it also has to be the car from the previous game....

Darn it... I totally smacked walls when I raced him.... Especially when the course had random dirt sections along the way, that always messes me up. But thank you, yes, I used my previous Evo 5 from my last game into the new game + and I'll try my Evo 6 in the new game plus, I can't go for Dominator yet because the R32 I haven't unlocked yet, but I have mine from the previous game... guess for now though I'm trying to figure out how to gain Mr. Mitsu, a rival in the game mentioned some Rival profiles will indicate how exactly to befriend them... but they aren't all definite.

Odd enough, I raced Guardian, this time without hitting the walls in an Evo 5, I beat him by an outrun, I dunno if I was supposed to out run him, I'll try again but this time see if I can make it all the way down and not hit the walls.

As for the rival, I don't have access to my PS2 currently since my TV recently died out on me, but it's one of the first Rivals in Hakone, he mentions it before you race him "Hey, have any friends? They'll lend you their car sometime, Check their Rival Profiles!" something like that.

You have to beat him on the first straightaway.

At the very beginning? Darn it AGAIN, I struggle due to the road is so narrow at the beginning, I don't want to hit the wall OR him.

w00t! I finally befriended Legendary Schneider!
I'm not 100% sure what the requirements are, so I need someone to test this for me.

First I tried beating him several times, losing a lot, racing clean, racing dirty... nothing seemed to work.

Then I looked at his profile and it said something about him racing True Warrior from team Bay Racing in the past.
Luckily I had already befriended True Warrior, so I used his car to beat LS... no luck, he wouldn't be my friend.
Then I figured befriending Bay Racing's leader (Gale Moment) would do the trick.
Turns out, you need to befriend Mystery Princess (also of team BR) and use her car to befriend Gale Moment.
After I had done that, I tried using Gale Moment's car, but that didn't work either.

So I went back to trying to outrun him cleanly again, using my GT-R34.
I passed him in the first corner and halfway through the track I outran him......and suprise suprise, he became my friend!

Okay, so in short this is what I did:
- Befriend everyone in Team Bay Racing
- Use a Skyline GT-R34 to pass him after the first corner, beat him by outrun, without hitting him or the walls

p.s. Here's a quick picture I took with my cellphone to brag ab... I mean, prove it
