title says it all ..if your a fan of initial d tell me and we'll talk for ages

I used to read the manga of it, saw it in a shop once, the 1st book, picked it up and I've read up to like the 20th book I think, had to stop because it was £7.99 a book

I bought Initial D manga and DVDs for a few years. At first it was really cool. I'd never heard of any animated TV show, in Japan or anywhere else, that portrayed street racing as the central focus. And since I liked cars and racing it didn't take too long for me to get hooked.

However...at around the 22nd manga book...I was feeling a bit like J15nel here. You get a pretty bum deal whether you're buying the manga ($9 a book) or the anime ($15 for a 3 episode disc).

And it feels like the further you get in the series, the more repetitive the plot gets. They use the same story arc constantly:

1) Takumi is confronted by a new challenger.
2) Takumi and the challenger train.
3) Takumi and the challenger race.
4) Takumi wins by some clever plan or just a fluke.
5) Repeat.

And then when we get to Project D, it's:

1) Project D is confronted by a new racing team.
2) Project D and the racing team train.
3) Takumi and Keisuke race their respective challengers.
4) Takumi and Keisuke win by some clever plans or just flukes.
5) Repeat.

Since Takumi wins nearly all the time, his races start to get dull after a while. You stop thinking "Wow...can he win this?" and start thinking "Okay...so what will Takumi pull out of his ass this time?"

Sorry to say it guys, but even though I like cars, I can't keep watching the same arc over and over again like this.

wow you guys have the prices easy over at the us and uk its about 40aud here for a dvd and like impossibl to find a freakin manga so i watch it on youtube ..but yea i have to say im over it because it does just get repedative but then again im still into it ...coz it CARS!!

i just downloaded all stages, and read some of the later manga chapters online.

I have to agree it does get repetivive. But i mostly play the games. at our mall we have Initald 3rd stage (me and my friends are trying to get the 4th.) I find playing the game better. I'm the only person in my area that's beaten the game with a BNR34 (R34 skyline). and I have the racing aura. I also have a AE85 (Iggy set up) It's fun to drift in the game. what about everyone else?

well although i have to say it gets repetitive, it still is one of my favorite animes.....
fav race would have to be takumi's first encounter with Kai Kogashiwa... hairpin jumps ftw

You know, when you buy something in your own country with your own money, it's not so simple to compare the real cost of things in different countries. I think we'd get a better idea of how much the Initial D manga and anime really cost us if we discuss something like the minimum wage we all get.

For example, in America, it's $5.85. So at that rate you could buy a manga book from America for about two hours work. But when I bought an Initial D manga book when I was in the UK with exchanged pounds, it now represented four hours work. However, if you start with British pounds, I bet it'd represent two hours of work again. See what I'm saying?

Regardless though...I know that the Initial D anime in America is a pretty bad deal, when compared to other choices. $15 for a 3 episode disc is $5 per episode. On the other hand, I can buy 24 episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho in a box set for $25. That's almost $1 an episode. I'm paying quintuple what I do for Yu Yu Hakusho episodes.

I agree with the repetativeness, and when half the book is a double page spread of two cars drifting from a different angle... yeah...

the newest chapter seems exciting because it seems like.....



another thing that really bugs me is that takumi's new GF looks exactly like Natsuki, but they seemed to just forget about her.

you know what i love all the sneeky stuff that genki put in this game like the crowd looks like some of the characters in the show,the ae86 with a driver called tofu maniac, the ae86 with the tofu sign on the side,having haruna as a track things like that

Its Mako Sato, but whatever and Iketani actually mans up and talks to Mako in Extra Stage 2.

Project D just finished defeating Kanagawa's second line defense (Kai's MR-S and Hideo's Supra). I think Shigeno's revealing more on Ryosuke's past right now.

Haha, it was Kenji. I'd rather see Sayuki with Takeshi instead though. Kinda weird how Shingo and Sayuki were friends.
