Awesome.
It takes many of the rivals from Shutokou and Kaido Battle series and puts them on circuits.

You have SP battles, Drift challenges (like corner artist 'races' in Kaido Battle), and just flat out races with multiple opponents all running at the same time like a typical circuit racing game.

The cars, physics, music... all familiar to regular Genki fans. Huge number of rivals including wanderers. Fairly large selection of cars and parts along with garages you can customise, and items for both car and garage that can actually give you advantages when you race-- ie, helmets or harnesses that lessen SP damage, or a drift 'ring' that doubles your drift points if you make no mistakes.

The amount of Japanese text may be a put-off but with the translation available from NTSC-UK you can get through it.

Well worth it, particularly if you'd be intrigued to see a lot of the familiar Genki features in a completely different setting. It was pretty cool to race the C1 Loop in the daytime or fight Zero on a circuit!

Augh I've wanted this game for so long, it's the only PS2 Genki game I haven't played.

DFP/GT support?

sounds like it took the best parts of GT games and imputting most of the great features from Genki's games which sounds awesome.

i think it should support dfp/gt considering it was released after kaido3 was, no guarantees though. it's impossible to find though unless u pay a lot n have a chipped ps2.

i have a chipped ps2 but couldnt find it, or find a torrent version. u can try emulators if u have a decent computer that can play ps2 games.

It has wheel support. Its attributes are consistent with Kaido3 (Densetsu), including a BBS, scoring of drifting (which it calls DP, drift point, as opposed to CA, corner artist battles), and many of the characters/cars.

Interestingly, it puts a number of the Shutokou rivals into cars more properly designed for the track as opposed to their street rides. So you'll recognise them from their stickers (and usually their colors) but they might drive a different car or a circuit version of their street car.

I got my copy of the game from ebay. New (and this is a couple of years ago) it was like 40 dollars. I think now it has some collector cachet so buying it new is kinda spendy-- but I've seen used ones still in the 35-40 dollar range. As long as you get a reputable seller just buy a used one-- we're in it for the driving, not how pristine the box is.

Bought it from YESASIA, still waiting for it. 14 business days have already passed. Going to wait another 14 before I send them a report. Hope it arrives though. Does YESASIA's shipping take that long?

P.S. It's HK to Philippines, which is not that far.

since i got it now, i made a brief review? just dp mode though. If you play with a wheel I think u'll be dissapointed after being used to kaido. Unless theres something wrong with compatibility with japanese games and american wheels, or whatever the reason is. Force feed back just doesnt work, i have to play with 200 degree steering.

RP's kind of like enthusia where you get penalized for touching anything, with about 6 cars in a race, but less frustrating, since your points go up for drifting corners and going fast without touching anything. get penalized too much, and you're forced to enter pit lane.

SP's awesome. kind of like your typical shutouku games. Closed roads or circuits instead of street race though and you can challenge any car including non rivals. theres a time limit though.

I would say that C loop in this game looks way better than TXR3, and on par with ITC. just so much more detail.

I have to find some way to get it... My computer can't take emulation and I don't want a Torrent too much...

surist way= get a japanese ps2 or mod chip and import it.

Here's a long SP battle. You can't really tell how great C loop looks in this game from it because of bad quality. If you liked SP battle from the shutouku games, you'll like it and be well familiar. You can also do it on courses like suzuka, tskaba, etc.
