well, i have to say, Organized racing isnt EA's niche, but in my opinion, its a bit nice to see a GT clone with body kits and customizable vinyls...oh wait...i thought you were talkin bout forza ;P

but i suppose it is NOTHING like NFS used to be....but i thought Pro Street wasnt too bad...it was a really interesting genre shift

The only good NFS games were:
Road & Track presents: The Need For Speed
Need For Speed: V-Rally
NFS Underground
NFS Underground 2
NFS Most Wanted
NFS Carbon
NFS Pro Street

Actually....Shift is not being developed by EA Blackbox. It's being developed by Simbin who made the GTR series. Doesn't look at that bad. Plus Criterion is making the mysterious 4th NFS game and all we know about that is that they're going back to the original 3DO style.

I like the classic NFS series and v-rally more. Now NFS is a rice fest just like Fast and the Furious.

People make me lol when they say Underground is the real NFS. No, real NFS is racing Ferrari F355's and Diablo SV's through canyons, or being chased by the cops in a BMW M5 through a sleepy village. Underground, RUINED what it was all about. Pro Street for me is the best its been since Underground, Shift is definately going to be a game I purchase. 'Cept for the PC, cus I know that SimBin are gonna have some tasty rides for me to drive with my G25. NFS Won't be back until we see Need For Speed 4. With no subtitles.

All the games are good, and prostreet was good too. Shift's gonna make it look better, and its about time that you needed real skills to play a need for speed game.

Ok Pro Street was pretty good...i mean, organized racing done NFS Style...so it was pretty cool... nice concept, i just wished it was done better...

I personally don't have a gaming compy or a PS3/Xbox 360, so unfortunately, NFS Shift / World Online won't ever be playable...

Which really sucks...both games look immaculate... Shift follows Pro-Street on "organized racing" and looks as good (if not better) Than Gran Turismo or Forza 3...

HOWEVER

I only own a Wii...and i'll be honest: NFS Nitro looks downright dumb

The problem is that NFS garnered fans from the arcade style games and switching to a simulation type game wouldn't be easy for it's current fanbase. It also wouldn't be able to draw in enough of the simulation fanbase in.

That's why ProStreet is constantly bashed, mainly by the people who hopped on during the Underground era of games.
And I agree with MrORLY.

Yep. That is the nail in the coffin. Underground. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but now the majority of 'NFS' fans are actually underground fans, if NFS went back to 'Normal' every 'Fan' (lots of quoatations :L) would have a bitch fit.

I'm gonna be honest and say i got hooked more on NFS U than i did the others, but i really wouldn't care which "genre" they'd stick with, since the other NFS games i played (NFS Porsche Unleashed, NFS Hot Pursuit II, there was another one that was real old....but thats not the point) were really good as well..

also have you guys noticed the liscensed music has gotten worse since Most-Wanted?

To be honest, I've always thought NFS's licensed music steadily improved since Underground 2. U1 was pretty bad, U2 was the low point, Most Wanted decent, Carbon a little better, Pro Street pretty good, and now Undercover's actually...pretty sweet. Some of the songs were actually...dare I say it?...happy and upbeat. It feels so wonderful after listening to angry- or serious-sounding rock/rap type music.

GTA's music has a weird curve. Vice was amazing, SA even better. Then GTA IV, what happened there

Apparently it was supposed to be artists that are 'up and coming in the music industry' I don't think I've heard from any of them since. Why didn't they just put the famous people out there? I woulda loved doing missions to Metallica and Slipknot. ¬¬

Really?

Ok here's how i see it

NFS Hot Pursuit II: Some great rock (it was relatively up-beat). Nice songs that were pretty catchy
NFS U: OK... this was more towards the point where i stopped listening to the radio. I hated all the hip hop, but the few rock tracks that were there were ok.

NFSU:2: GG all hip hop fail

Most Wanted: A bit more upbeat...but some of the mainstream music was like WTF
Carbon: Love the orchaestrated pieces. I honestly knew 0% of the liscensed music
ProStreet: Double You Tea Eff... All this techno stuff that probably no one knew about... upbeat kinda...catchy, no...
UC: I didn't even bother... listened to ipod while playing

Shift is looking good. IGN and OXM just gave Shift 9/10. But I need to the game to see how it really plays.

idk...i think the fact that i have a wii/pro gaming compy is gonna screw me over with the NFS series.

NFS Shift: LOOKS INCREDIBLE! on par with GRiD and Gran Turismo and dare i say it, Forza 3! Looks like a re-worked NFS Pro Street...but far better

NFS WO: Everyone i know from Drift City is gonna play this. It looks like NFS MW or UC, but ONLINE! Imagine playing cops/robbers with your friends! COOL HUH?

NFS Nitro: GG really? Cars look last-gen quality, wtf physics... Just cuz the Wii is family oriented or weaker graphic wise, doesnt mean you have to DUMB DOWN the graphic quality to hell.
