Gran turismo: fake overrated sim. Forza: around the same or maybe light years ahead if you count GT4 being a sim, which also seems to make me want to plug in TXRD2 again everytime i play it. NFS: controversial but thats about it. GRID/Dirt: overrated. Juiced: ehhh. PC games: realistic but not many good courses, and not really fun or addictive.

What is your opinion on enthusia? I'm thinking of buying it.
I would say enthusia is above average as a console sim, mediocre as a racing game with fun factor, and below txrd2 in realism.
Time to write a review thats better than any pro review you'll find. i guess i already did on gamespot but that ones really brief. I'll give it a 6 out of 10. If you want to compare my scores, I give TXRD2 a 10, TXR3 a 8.5(would be higher if not for translation bugs), Gran turismo 4 a 4.5.
Realism: Enthusia's light years ahead of GT4 as a sim, because of handling. Not really fun as a game, and career modes way too confusing. Cars handle most similar to their real version in stock form, since they either come with tcs, abs, asm, etc or not. I found it useful for learning to drift in the beginning since it is a little easier than TXRD2. Turning at low speeds is pretty good, meaning it's easy to just pick up a car and drift without tuning. It doesn't handle anywhere near as good as TXRD2 at high speed, or have tire wear, brake fade, proper braking feel though. Gravity changes due to elevation is weaker than TXRD2. Force feed back is not as good as TXRD2(if you play with a logitech wheel). You also can't train like you would in TXRD2 because of all the customization options. No driving with better front wheel traction, while making your LSD better and maxing out power. No going in the rain with the wrong wheels, etc. 6 out of 10
Graphics: Not bad. Not realistic as GT4, but it has way better rain graphics. Nuremburgring looks realy gloomy for some reason. Not as plsing as TXRD2.

tuning: Not much. When you win races your car levels up, and gets a weight reduction, better tire, or engine power. problem is that it's automatic, you can't decide, and once it lvls up a certain part you can't lvl down, and i've always wanted to test how a car would be like with lvl 10 power/weight, and lvl 1 tires. You get to customize suspension but thats the only customization. no braking strength, tcs, balance, etc.

Career mode is the most frustrating ever. I don't even know what i'm supposed to do, sometimes I win an get points, sometimes I lose points. Menus are also frustrating. instead of selecting a course, then reverse, rain, etc. they are all listed as seperate courses. building a garage and finding the right car may take some time as well, eventhough you can minimize your search, you have to do it every time. It's also stupit how you get penalized for dropping 1 or 2 outter tires off a gutter. You are not off course and still in control.
courses: Theres only 2 real courses, tsukaba and nuremburgring. while all others are fictional. I found one of the mountain ones okay for drifting and theres a fictional touge course. nothing as good as TXRD2 touge courses. You get to race in rain and night in some courses which is good. Might take awhile to select since they are all listed as different courses. No fog, storm, wind or anything else.

music: mediocre
engine sound: I guess it's the only game I tried which had the beeping gear shift indicator in RX-7 cars, but unfortunetly only in 1st person view, along with some other sounds. There doesnt seem to be an option like window on/off in TXRD2. the engines are not bad, but nothing specular.

car selection: It's pretty good. you've got concept cars, wrc cars, road cars, etc. I havent really unlocked too much since i rarely play this game though, so i wouldn't know them all. Getting cars you want is completely based on luck(slot machine when you place in races). There's also a mode you can hit targets at a certain speed which you need to do to unlock cars, challenging but I never found it really fun and more of an annoyance after awhile.

Considering it's cheap now, and you may like another racing game it may be worth the purchase. maybe driving on courses like tsakaba, and sampling some fictional courses(I personally prefer real) with semi realistic physics on a ps2 is good enough of a reason on it's own to own this game. Maybe it's useful for crosstraining and getting better at TXRD2.
