Car: Subaru Impreza STi GDB (2003 V-Limited)
Parts Level Max: Level 5
Objective: Create a drift car
Deadline: Full Setups by November 30th

A) Ease of Use - car should be easy to put into a slide and maintain the slide.
B) Versatile - car should work on long corners as well as hairpins.

Cars will be tested on two courses, Akagi (Downhill, Sections 9-5) and on Happogahara (Downhill).

I would like to get one to two other people to judge the setups besides myself.

Judging of setups is based on a 0 - 100 pt. scale for A & B (200 pts. is perfect score).

Got a second judge, R3bel. And as asked, it would be great for judges to submit a tune as well to help increase the number of entries.

I think my skills are merit enough to make me worthy of being a judge (in game, real life driving ability, and knowledge of how tuning effects handling) I've had some sucsesful attempts before at building a GC8 on this game, EVO8s too. So i'll get around to submitting mine tomorrow. right now im tired so im going to sleep.. or something.

Sounds good, we have three judges - and we'll have three setups. Very good.

Didn't realize this until just now - this tune is for the late model (2003 V-Limited) - I saw that there is two GDB's.

I really dislike the GDB. I prefer the VER5 and VER6 GF-GC8s over it for looks and for weight and i find the 22b to have the best handling overall. But I'm still tuning it.

but I've settled on the specs 1289kg, 395PS @ 6800rpm and 49.4kg n at 4800.

level 4 spike on the back and sports 5 on the front are working for sliding but still needs some refinement, tends to drift to far and hit the back wall with its tail. but it can drift with counter-steering. need to try some different tire combos though.

Well, I got the three cars built (mine, KRZNRG, & evospeedin) and will be testing them out as much as I can tonight - it may take me a second night to complete.

Quote:
A) Ease of Use - car should be easy to put into a slide and maintain the slide.
B) Versatile - car should work on long corners as well as hairpins.

evospeedin's STi : 180/200
A - 90/100
B - 90/100

This car handles very well on both long and short corners, on both courses. Long corners may take a bit of finesse, but not much. Could use a bit more grip in the rear for me. Definitely a car that will work well for beginners and advanced drifters.

KRZNRG's STi : 170/200
A - 85/100
B - 85/100

The car is a great long corner performer. On Kirigamine's long corner I could countersteer, let go of the analog stick and the car would complete the corner without problem. For the short corners the car was a bit too tail-happy for me, but relatively controllable. I also had to slow down more for corners that were at the end of long straightaways. This setup wouldn't be good for beginners, but moderate to advanced drifters could handle this well.

I won't judge my own car as I don't feel comfortable doing so. I'll let others judge mine.

While I wait for the other judges to come back with their results....

I took my setup out to the the Gymhkana for a Level 10 Time Attack and managed to get the 19th spot on the Genki Boards... felt pretty good. If I spent more time tuning I think I could knock off 0.5-1.0 second from my time.

Is anyone going to be judging this still?

evospeedin

90/100 for ease of use
70/100 for versatility

It is relatively easy to use but somewhat dependent on the hand brake. the front bias of the brakes make it a bit awkward and tends to be a bit more prone to understeer (since the front wheels are easier to lock up it makes turning and braking much more difficult) but maintaining a long slide is relatively easy and the stability of the car helps keep it under control. doesn't slide out as far as I prefer but its better than what I expected from looking at the tuning you did. Personally I would use a rear brake bias.

why_spider

85/100 ease of use
90/100 versatility

the bias is my only problem with it. but all around its good and quite stable. A good setup for anyone i'd imagine. Though its not as smooth as i'd like theres nothing really wrong with it.

i wish more people would have made an attempt at this challenge lol.

haha yeah its good to see how other peoples styles and tuning differ from your own.

I'm mostly satisfied with mine, I can manage over 100,000 on happogahara DH and scoring 10,000 or more is pretty regular for most of the corners.
